CDC reports since the pandemic of March 2020, 40% of adults have faced at least one type of serious mental health challenge. A CDC survey completed June 2020 reports anxiety was 400% higher compared to the January 2020 survey and depression screenings were 457% higher compared to the January 2020 screening. A few of these challenges include isolation, uncertainty, fear, unemployment, unsafe environments, and holding on to negative emotions and actions. A high level of anxiety might “paralyze the person to positive change and deter success.”
Anger can sabotage one’s motivation to problem solve and form positive relationships. A low level of depression can assist us in deciding on what needs to change but an intense level of depression can immobilize making positive change to our emotional wellbeing and good mental health. Many of our trauma triggers are effective by a high level of anxiety, severe levels of stress and /or an onset of depression.
